Workshop descriptionThe field of unconventional computing became somewhat populated with fanciful theoretical constructions erected, in many instances, for the sake of pure formalisation. These children of mental synthesis, despite their elegance and beauty, bring little, if any contribution towards future development of the discipline. The goal of the workshop is to
In additional to papers presenting experimental work, we are particularly keen to get submissions with a critical view on unconventional computing, pointing out failures and shortcomings of theoretical and experimental approaches in designing novel and emergent computing systems. Topics of the workshop include, but are not limited to:
The one-day workshop will consist in a series of 12-15 presentations, followed by a general discussion at the end. Compared to the main track of Unconventional Computing, this workshop is intended to be more focused and interactive.
S. Akl Publications Long versions of the accepted papers will be published as a standalone volume of `pre-proceedings': Revised with results of the workshop discussions, and significantly shortened selected papers will be published in a special issue of the International Journal of Unconventional Computing.
We encourage people to prepare their manuscripts in LaTeX. Authors of accepted papers will be asked to submit their source files.
